WORLD BANK SUPPORTS THE LABOR-INTENSIVE PUBLIC WORK(LIPW) PROGRAM IN GHANA

Ghana Social Opportunities Project (GSOP)
The Ghana Social Opportunity Project, funded by the World Bank, aims to improve the social security of poor families in poverty-stricken areas, and provides income support to poor families through the development of livelihood alleviation (LEAP) grants and the restoration of LIPW infrastructure .
The World Bank continues to support the establishment of a social protection system in Ghana, especially through the establishment of the Ghana National Family Registration System (GNHR), which will provide data on the poorest population in Ghana upon completion to help social protection plan determination, priority determination and benefit selection people. This work will also improve the efficiency of social protection programs.
The local government and the Ministry of Rural Development have assisted the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations in formulating a national labor-intensive public works policy under the "GSOP", which aims to institutionalize LIPW as a tool for job creation in Ghana.
EKEMP provides Biometric Fingerprint Terminals for the registration and verification of labors to ensure fair access to benefits.
